Dream Theatre: Phantasmagoric Performance Art

Vivid Dreaming - Alternate title

Behind the stage was a room where one could go to alter the performance at the front of the stage. By pressing together the films of light into an ever-smaller wad of wax a hole could be plugged between the conscious and the subconscious.

On the stage were colorful dancers and screens with real-time cityscapes that flickered as the light from the city itself dimmed.

Madonna appeared at the edge of the state and looked at the director and asked him, "how long do I have to keep his smile on? I'm tired of gyrating endlessly and I'd like to stop if you'd let me."

To prove that one could alter the performance itself by thinking about it from behind the stage, I whispered greek letters, e.g., alpha, beta, gamma, to the director to prove to him that we were not in a dream. It is said that one could not be conscious of being in a dream while one was in it. In order to prove it, one either looked at one's hands or recited letters of a foreign alphabet.

Night after night we all frequented this mind and body series of performances. It was the high point of our life. Someone announced that all performances had been released on dvds, about eight hours worth and that future performances would also be released. We eagerly awaited the continuation of these vivid theatrical dreams as well as the release of the dvd sets.

It was difficult to describe to others the sheer joy and wonder of witnessing these performances night after night as the sunset invaded the screen and sent the dancers into the very skies of New York City.

It must have been near Lincoln Center for the buses drove by and then appeared on the panoramic screens at the corners of the stage.

Summer never let up and the colors of dream theatre and music never died.

Hillary Clinton Wins Big

Senator Hilary Clinton wins big in both Texas and Ohio. While it was not completely impossible for Clinton to win in both states, the previous weeks had indicated that it was not to be. However, recent events in the other candidate's campaign had created enough doubt in the minds of voters to change the outcome of a highly anticipated primary election.

It is hoped that the campaign promises made by both candidates will continue to influence American politics for many years.

Disclaimer: The above is an example of anticipatory journalism. It expresses the desired outcome of a near-future event on the part of the writer. It is intended in the best possible way. If such outcome does not materialize, time then becomes important as to determine the eventual realization of the desired reality.

Virtual Physics Lectures

How I would have wanted to have attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology years ago. Well, not really. It wasn't until the 21st century that I became fascinated with Physics, Astrophysics, etc.

If I had broadband--another reason to put up with the extra expense--I could sit in on Physics lectures for nothing. I understand they are becoming the rage, worldwide.

When I get broadband, I can come back to MIT Physics lectures and enjoy one dazzling idea after another.

Maybe the new year will find me sitting in front of the broadband LCD panel in my living room soaking up lecture after lecture, while the sun rises and and sets while I take no notice of the passing of time.

How to Become Part of the Machine

Some of the mind-intensive activities or experiments outlined in this recent New York Times article have been selected below:

"Go to Google Image Labeler (images.google.com/imagelabeler) and you are randomly matched with another bored Web surfer — in Korea, maybe, or Omaha — who has agreed to play a game. Google shows you both a series of pictures peeled from the Web — the sun setting over the ocean or a comet streaking through space — and you earn points by typing as many descriptive words as you can. The results are stored and analyzed, and through this human-machine symbiosis, Google’s image-searching algorithms are incrementally refined. . . .

Now a site run by Amazon.com, the Mechanical Turk (http://www.mturk.com/), asks you to lend your brain. Named for an 18th-century chess-playing automaton that turned out to have a human hidden inside, the Mechanical Turk offers volunteers a chance to search for the missing aviator Steve Fossett by examining satellite photos. Or you can earn a few pennies at a time by performing other chores that flummox computers: categorizing Web sites (“sexually explicit, “arts and entertainment,” “automotive”), identifying objects in video frames, summarizing or paraphrasing snippets of text, transcribing audio recordings — specialties at which neural algorithms excel. . . .

How do you categorize Wikipedia, a constantly buzzing mechanism with replaceable human parts? Submit an article or change one and a swarm of warm- and sometimes hot-blooded proofreading routines go to work making corrections and corrections to the corrections."

The Multiple Lives You Are Living

If Quantum Mechanics really does suggest an infinite amount of parallel universes or realities existing simultaneously, then this changes what you perceive as everyday reality.

If we create our reality by our intentions and choices on a minute-by-minute basis, then even though it defies understanding, we are constantly stepping into and out of the ever-flowing river of time and reality.

Let me give an example. So much of what happens to us depends on what we envision as happening to us and as what we remember that happened to us in the past. I have been looking for a good friend from college for about 17 years with no success. Last week I recalled an incident that happened to him and his family and I commented on it on the following blog, Divergence. Hours later, I was exploring the Invisible web (the Deep Web) and accessed http://www.pipl.com/ and, to my utter surprise, I was able to find my friend's phone number in a database that had forever eluded me. I was able to talk with him and catch up with all that had transpired during those 17 years. One comment he made chilled me. He said he always felt that I'd contact him again when he turned 50 which happened last week.

I had always felt that I'd never find him again--that he was forever beyond my reach. I even thought he had died and that was the explanation as to why he was not in any of the databases that I had used to find countless friends from the past. It almost felt like I was never supposed to find him again in this life. My suspicion is that had we both not had that intention to find each other after two decades, we probably would not have done so.

Now this is the chilling part. Each of us is experiencing to some degree a different universe or reality than what we experienced even a day or an hour ago from the one we had been experiencing even a day or an ago earlier. The people we meet and the experiences we have are not the same ones we would have met or experienced had we continued existing in the previous universe or reality. Of course some things stay the same, you continue living in the same home from day to day. You continue in the same job from day to day. You stay married or related to the same spouse or love interest or friends from day to day, but there are slight changes that occur to you that are not integral to the life and world you were previously living in.

In other words, reality is always changing, perhaps subtly, but changing nevertheless. In other realities I could have lived in, I would still be looking for my elusive friend with no known address or phone number. In another universe he would still be looking for me, as well.

A good film to explore this concept of ever-changing reality is Dark City, a SciFi film that is like no other in that it explores a Matrix-like alternate reality, but one that continues changing from day to day.

Are we Living in the Afterlife Now?

If this is the afterlife, we had better make the best of it. This life has a heavenly quality for some people. For others, the experience is more hellish than heavenly. There are all the variations in-between, as well.

I'm not saying there is no Afterlife. The traditional view of some other reality after death, or at some distant point in the future after one dies, may very well also be a possibility. Nevertheless, if this present reality were to some significant degree a kind of afterlife, as perfect or as imperfect as it may seem, then the next question arises. What was the previous life like? Was it as imperfect or perfect as this one? Was it almost a mirror of this reality? Or was it slightly different in some important way?

This may sound like the reincarnation that Hindus believe with no end in site until one achieves, or doesn't achieve Nirvana or Benign Oblivion. On the otherhand, this life-after-life-after-life may simply be the different alternate realities that String Theory and M Theory postulate as existing side by side.

What if life were one long series of opening doors that are always opening or closing in a long corridor of eternity? You go through one and open another one for all eternity. This endless opening of doors does not sound like such an imperfect reality, provided one is equally healthy and happy. There will always be new doors to open and close along that endless corridor of time.

Living between Time

Ursula K. Le Guin's The Lathe of Heaven (1971) has influenced my perception of life more than I care to admit. The gist of the story is that reality is transformed by what the hero dreams. His psychoanalyst suggests ridding the world of racism. When he dreams about that, he awakens to a world where all of humanity is now gray-skinned. This and many other startling changes are brought about by his lucid dreaming.

Through the years, I didn't consciously think of that novel which I read at 15 or 16. I once caught a PBS adaptation (1980) which delighted me by its distillation into quite a completely different story from what I had imagined it to be. Nevertheless, for about 20+ years I've had the odd suspicion that some elements of life have changed ever so slightly from what I clearly remember them to have been.

One of the earliest occurrences was being completely befuddled at finding that a chord or motif that I had been so certain existed in the Beatles' Hey Jude, did not, in fact, exist. I imagined that I was mistaken, but in my mind I could still hear the other version that I had been familiar with. Now this is before bootlegs became widely available on the Internet and in Greenwich Village rare records stores. It saddened me that I remembered a version of this famous song, that, in fact, no longer existed, or perhaps, ever existed.

Another startling occurrence deals with a book that I have been reading since I was eleven, October the First is Too Late (1966) by the astronomer, mathematician, philosopher Fred Hoyle. I've read this perhaps four or five times in my life. The last time I read it I was astounded by the fact that a encounter between the hero and a historical/mythical person that I had vivid memories of having read many times before, suddenly had disappeared from this only paperback copy that I have always used when I reread this story. I tried rereading it in case I had missed this significant encounter, but alas, it was not to be found. I have a feeling that if I were to read this book again I might either find this missing scene again, or perhaps find new ones missing, or--even more perplexing--find a scene that I know I had never read during the previous readings of this unique book.

The latest occurrence of this personal phenomenon was when I recently learned of Ingmar Bergman's death. This stunned me more than you'd imagine, as I distinctly remember reading that Fanny and Alexander (1982) was his last film. I never heard anything else about Ingmar Bergman until this past month when all the news agencies reported his death at a ripe old age. Now the confusion may be that, yes, this film was in fact his last film, and his Swan Song, as far as feature films are concerned. He, however, continued making other kinds of films, mostly for Swedish TV. Now as much as I loved his work, and as much as I have immersed myself, obsessively at times, you'd think I would have read at least a review or two in the ensuing years, but that was not the case. Not until he died did I see anything in print in any of the major film or cultural media about this singular director. To my mind, this was indeed proof, that the reality I remembered quite certainly that Bergman died some time in the early 1980s, had, in fact, changed.

I'm suddenly reminded of the only line of text that I remember from my distant encounter with Catch 22. I remember a rambling discussion about the real or imagined alternates to deja vu (already seen.) The other two being presque vu (almost seen) as well as, jamais vu (never seen.) I forget the point the author was trying to make, but now that I think back on those varieties of things previously seen, imperfectly seen, or never seen, I wonder if what I've been describing can be described as a fusion of all three manifestations of realities actually experienced in some way or other.

Perhaps this very blog post may one day be remembered by myself or by someone else, when actually no such post will have ever existed in some future or alternate reality.

Please note, that the following paragraphs almost disappeared as I had previously added extra space accidentally and had forgotten that I had done so. The previous paragraph you read was almost--to my mind--the last one in this post. What a pleasant surprise and one in tune with what I've been writing about to have found these alternate paragraphs. I'm including them as is, in case they disappear again, or never register in the first place.

These are only two glaring situations in my recollection that illustrate this point. There have been, in fact, many others, including meeting people that no one else remembers, but I remember them because they left a huge impact on me. I always ignored these inconsistencies with other people's memories until I was able to reveal to relatives or close friends things they had said to me, 20 or 25 years ago, that upon some reflection, they admitted that they very well could have said that, but it was long gone from their memory. This gave me some assurance that if I remembered statements or situations in family member's lives or in those of close friends, perhaps I remembered other realities that others no longer remembered at all.

I'm not sure what this phenomenon is called. I thought briefly of how fascinated I used to be with the concept of déjà vu until until I read that it had nothing to do whatsoever with a mystical reality, but rather that it was caused by a trick of the mind. For years I often had episodes of déjà vu and they delighted and perplexed me greatly. Since learning that this phenomenon is a trick of the mind, I no longer experience episodes of déjà vu .

Recently I read in the New York Times that one major cosmologist believes that we change our evolutionary and cosmological past by what we collectively choose to remember or imagine it to be. This was both startling and comforting. I'm still looking for this recent quote, but, it seems to elude me the way other memories or recalled incidences have done for more than 20 years.

Perhaps one day I will remember that I wrote this post, but will find that no one read it or recalls it, and even more problematic, I will find no copy of it either here or in my hard copy binder of blog posts I've written.

Halographic Prayers Underground

Alternate title: World Wide Web 2050

In a special holographic circular room your entire body is connected by wireless electrodes to the supercomputer that colors your seemingly endless room by purposely preventing you from ever hitting any of the walls.

You wear no goggles. There is nothing but yourself and the almost perfect illusion that you are in bright sunshine or in the mountains of the distant past, as you meet and experience people and locations that would have been unthinkable 43 years ago.

The clothes you try on are sent to your home. The furniture you sit on has been shipped and will arrive there by morning, or sooner, for you to enjoy. The virtual people you meet will seem to know you perfectly if ever you meet them in the flesh.

As you sit in the holographic church, or temple, and worship the real God in a real heaven, you wonder how anyone ever risked the safety and the variety that the holographic web now affords you. You find it preposterous that humanity once lived in the precarious world before the free nations of the world had to go into hiding to avoid the nonstop bombing of the cities above ground.

Why are We Here? A Different Approach

God forbid that the following should ever happen. It almost happened when the fate of mankind was in the balance at Gethsemane. There really was a risk that something could have gone wrong. Otherwise Christ and God really didn't risk anything by sending Jesus Christ to die for humanity at infinite risk to himself and the Godhead.

The following is not meant to disrespect God or those of us who believe in Him. It is simply one man's attempt to answer the age old question: Why are we here? Of course, it is an approach for a believer in God that is admittedly peculiar and to some, problematic.

Again, what if, and this is a really big what if--by some terrible disaster, something happened to God? We, his heirs, spiritual and ethical, would still be in the universe to continue his vision for the universe, or the multiverse, or whatever kind of Meta-Space continuum exists beyond the parameters of our known universe. The laws of nature that God put into place would still continue to operate in the same way that a self-repairing mechanical device continues to exist as long as it is able to find newer sources of energy for itself to continue its intended function.

That might explain why there are so many of us on planet earth. We are God's insurance should anything ever happen to him. We really are the children of God. Why else create us and so many of us? Not that it will ever happen, but even we with our imperfect knowledge make plans for our children and, some of us, for our children's children. We are making those plans, ultimately, for us. So that our lives were not lived in vain. So that our descendants carry on our genes, our vision, our plans. At least that is the ideal.

With this remote and unlikely possibility in mind, humanity should make as many "what if" plans as possible. What if the asteroids that caused mass extinctions every 26 million years, wiped us out as well? What if some self-destructive principle our movement or ism alive in the world today would eventually wreak as much destruction on humanity as would that asteroid destroyer? What if some unknown but truly virulent virus were to develop in decades or centuries from now and wipe out most, or all of humanity?

All the beauty that God created, all his progeny, all his plans for us would end with these cataclysms. Every effort that can be made to protect present and future life should be made. Every resource that is now wasted should be better employed towards centuries-encompassing goals. What an utter tragedy if because of lack of vision or planning on the part of humanity, God's humanity, all the beauty and wonder and excellence that he created, is one day wiped out, with no new seed to make it grow again?

In more ways that we can imagine, not only do we live through God, but God lives through us, as well. May God and humanity continue this symbiotic relationship endlessly.

Cybernetic Reproduction

Neo-flesh covered cybernetic entities produce miniature versions of themselves that grow over a 21 year period into adult versions. Sex is for both personal fulfillment and procreation.

Each world is encased in orbs of neo-metal which in turn are enclosed within a larger orb. In effect, the larger orb is the known universe.

Some theorize that other orbs exist outside their universe containing worlds that exist as well as those in their known universe.

In an accidental time travel incident, archeologists from the known universe travel through a gateway out of their universe and into another universe or universes and make a startling discovery. They find a skeleton of an entity like themselves, but it is not made of neo-bone, but rather of a nonmetalic substance unknown to entitykind. The substance is named anti-bone. The records show that this "entity" was covered in anti-flesh and existed millions or billions of years before the arrival of entitykind. Some wonder if perhaps this accidental revelation was not so accidental after all. The original anti-entity could have made the time travel possible so that entitykind could learn the source of their being and world. Some then wondered how the anti-entity came to be and if there were others like it. Others insisted the discovery be kept secret as to not undermine society's smooth functioning.

The return trip was made impossible, but the discoverers were able to continue their existence, apparently forever, in the newly discovered universe where they lived a new existence without any further contact with their past universe. Perhaps they themselves would someday design a world within their world and cause a time traveler from its distant future to find their neo-bone remains.

Intelligent Life in the Universe

A million years from now humanity will encounter beings whose perceptional organs do not permit them to perceive us even though we will, of course, detect them. Humanity will attempt to detain them physically, and while they appear to not move as far as they are concerned, in their world they continue doing what they would have done had no "outside" interference affected them. In the alien's world, the non-perceived influence merely caused other normal fluctuations in their normal world.

If the tables were turned, theoretically, between the two species and their encounter of each other, might humanity not realize that they had been impacted or might even be presently impacted, by beings that we are incapable of perceiving, but are, nevertheless, present in their own reality?

The Future Creates the Past

Imagine a perfect being from the very distant future where perfection, as well as near perfection, has been achieved by sentient intelligences. Before the final death throes of the universe, or the metaverse if there really is a metaverse, this perfect being travels eons back in time knowing all that would happen in the universe. This perfect being travels back in time to a point before the actual occurrence of the Big Bang and jump starts the event itself.

Of course, quantum mechanics being what it is, the very same set of events do not come to pass as they did during the previous perception of the universe. Nevertheless, the general direction and chain of events would be very similar. This pre-knowledge of how things should turn out the second time around, would in effect be as close to omniscience as is possible.

The question as to how or where this perfect being came from in the first place, has no meaning. How can it? The simplest answer is that the future was the source of its being. The future will ever be the source of its being. The future really does contain the seeds of its own past because the future is perfect. It is perfect because it is still in the process of being born, unlike the past which came and went with all its imperfections and the present which is continually becoming the past.

The End creates the Beginning. The Beginning creates the End. It is all a cycle.

The Eighth Universe

The hosts of light are safely inside the Transparent City.
The confederacy of darkness surrounds the victorious city.
Beyond them, in an outer circle, an almost perfect circle, stand the mysterious people of the Fields of Colored Light.
They never imagined this could happen to them.
They wanted to be inside the City of Light. Instead, they stand far apart from those making war against the Rulers of Light and the victorious city.
Having made the wrong decision, they could not be allowed entrance into the City of Light.
However, neither do they find themselves capable of fighting against the brilliant city.

They are all gradually transported to an alternate universe of life.
As they traverse each of the known seven dimensions, they glow with the strange hues of the Fields of Colored Light.
With unfathomable and perplexing joy, they worship the all-understanding, all mysterious God of the central universe of light.
Again, they never imagined this could happen to them.
He waited till the end to let them know He had foreseen the second mysterious principle.
Not evil, but not immaculate righteousness either.
It was a nameless principle at the end of the Eighth Universe.
There they would wait for a new solution, a revelation, if there would ever be one.
Or there they would worship the eternal God within the Fields of Colored Light He had foreseen though had kept secret.

The children of the Eighth Universe would never be like those of light, nor of darkness.
Their ways would forever be a mystery, though not a threat.
Their culture would not equal that of Light; neither would it be greatly inferior.
They would exist on a plane a little lower than those of Light.

These Others, those of the Eighth Universe, would ever remember who they had been on Earth.
All the culture of Earth that was worth preserving they would perpetuate on Earth III.

Every eighth day they would come before God to worship the all encompassing being.

Yes, I know much of this piece is unbiblical. It is a kind of partial universalism. If only for its idealism or conceptual beauty or wonder, I thought it curious to post here. I had totally forgotten that I had written this piece at age 24.

World Trade Center 3001

Build a virtual time machine and travel back to September 10, 2001: the day before the twin towers fell. Take along with you a list of all the planes that crashed and the passenger lists. Underscore the names of the terrorists on each list. From the 101st floor of one of the towers, fax the list to major newspapers, radio stations, as well as the FBI, CIA and the White House. Cause all major airports to be shut down until the Towers are emptied and guarded.

When the Towers fail to fall on the following morning, go forward in time to September 11, 3001. Stand at the base of the Twin Towers and look straight up at the aging and abandoned towers that stand as a monument to your time traveling achievement.

Instead of documentaries about the destruction of the Twin Towers, only what-if movies will be filmed about what almost took place.

Nails of Peace

Buy a large nail or a spike like those used for constructing railroad tracks.
Dip it in gold, or silver, or copper or blood.

Engrave on it words of peace only.
Attach a harness and equip it with a small parachute.

Fly over a war-ravaged country.
Drop your emissary of peace out of your airplane.

Repeat until wars become a distant memory.

Secret Cities in the Cylinders of the Sky

" ... shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.” Daniel 12:4 (New King James Version)

Once a year at different times of the year, so as not to draw attention, a special event took place on the secret flours of the four cylindrical skyscrapers in the capital of MarContinuo. When these colossal towers had been constructed four multi-national concerns were the first to purchase floors 66 through 99 of each tower. Such was the wealth on display that the financial institutions approved the unusual requests of the same set of floors being purchased simultaneously by four different corporations. Especially convincing was the huge list of other corporations that these four would bring with them to the gargantuan towers of the capital.

Each building had a private freight elevator that connected each of the 33 floors of all four buildings to the storage and deliveries entrance on the ground floor. So as not to tip anyone off, the first few years were normal deliveries, but occasionally strange oblong crates would arrive at the service entrance. Such was the influence of each of the four corporations that none but the foolish would complain about the unusual size of the crates being delivered and transported to each of the 33 floors.

After a century of having completed all the internal miniature cities that now existed on each of the 33 floors, the addition of the moon's companion satellite caused colder temperatures to begin wreaking havoc on the earth. It was at this time that the internal cities began their secret life, in earnest. The residents hardly ever left their 33 floors. Only a few dignitaries would leave to meet with officials and to survey the ever advancing long-range winters that kept returning earlier and earlier each year. Before the final winter would descend on the capital of MarContinuo, the secret cities inside the four cylindrical towers were life-supporting as where the various types of aircraft that were positioned on the central levels of the 33 floors.

Before the last spring came, never to return, one night when the small satellite of the moon exploded, all of the sliding panels of the four cylinders surrounding the 33 floors slid open for the first and last time. All aircraft hastily departed before the tragedy of the satellite's explosion subsided and their secret escape not remain secret for very long.

Those that remained were amazed and disturbed that so much had taken place on those 33 floors. Since the eternal winter was almost upon them, it made very little difference what remained or had existed on those 33 floors. There would be nothing left if ever the eternal winter ended for the elements would have destroyed and rendered useless any technology and secret systems of survival that had once existed on each of the 33 floors.

The shadowy inhabitants of those 33 floors had planned this for thousands of years and were now heading to their final destination, the stars from which their ancestors had come.

The Future Begins in Anonymity

"The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of men and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown." Genesis 6:4 (NIV)

There was only one man who felt he had, at least, some of the answers to the age-old questions. How to survive in an ever-dying world? Instead of continuing with the centuries-old human stock, he sensed that fresh blood, newer genes, enhanced capabilities were in order. Vruughil (vroo-jeel) had no idea when he met Matrunsula (mah-troon-soo-lah) that not only would she be his first Wife, though he had, in fact, been married before, but that she would be the first Matriarch of a race of humans that would meet the future successfully in spite of its temporal shifts and challenges. Most ancient records record his name as Vruughil, though some made mention of a previous name with a secret meaning that has been lost in the confusion of the centuries leading up to the former Vumvuzhil's (voom-vuh-zheel) descendants and their historic departure from Earth aboard the interstellar craft of 2844.

Something in Vruughil's genetic make-up caused his first son, Antares, to develop slower than other children. What initially was thought to be perplexing retarded growth, was later revealed to be growth on a different scale than other human children. Antares grew every three years, though it was gradual so as not to appear more abnormal than was necessary. In order to allow the boy to catch up with other humans his age, the family secluded themselves in the hills outside of upstate New York and home-schooled the child until he was well beyond his high school graduation stature. When he was finally presentable to go to college his education had progressed years beyond that of 18 year olds in their first year of college. Additionally, he had been in possession of cognitive abilities that were not typical of 18 year old humans. He had the unusual foresight to see the distant future backwards, which caused him great perplexity and distress as it did his parents who were ever privy to his startling revelations of Earth's future in retrograde.

His records had to be adjusted, of course, so as not to draw attention to the fact that he was years older than his apparent age. While it was not unheard of for an individual to begin his or her college education at age 54, it would have been too problematic to imagine that the 18-year-old looking male was, in fact, 54. There had been no hospital records of Antares' birth, and since Vruughil's wealth permitted him eccentricity, DNA tests confirmed that, in fact, Antares was his son, and was belatedly issued a birth certificate, thus allowing the medical examiners to determine Antares' chronological birth to be almost 18. His father intentionally selected October 22, as the boy's birthday due to an obscure 19th-century movement that had started on that day in 1844.

Time had a different meaning for Antares, and to delay further suspicion, he finished his education in five years' time, changing majors and schools yearly, and graduated in absentia, though had he simply spent those years in one location, he would not have aroused undue attention. The risk was in accidentally forming emotional bonds that would lead to offspring that were not what his parents had planned for him.

When Antares was 23 he married the first of many women with whom he would sire the special class of humans that would take the approaching turn-of-the-millennium by surprise and leave Earth for worlds beyond and temporal eras ever in flux with the simplicity of Earth's time sequences.

2344 A.D.: Destruction of Brazilian Rain Forest

"The time has come ... for destroying those who destroy the earth." Revelation 11:18 (NIV)

500 hundred years before 2844 the anti-Futurists destroy the Brazilian rain forest with a device so perfect that the outline of the continental area containing the rain forest is destroyed while preserving what remains of the South American continent. The reasons for destroying the rain forest were many. The principle one was the belief--some said perception--that forces of negative energy had damaged the indigenous peoples of the rain forest. The Anti-Futurists and their alies are part of Earth's trans-national aliance and are mostly oblivious to the Realist-Futurist-Neutralist consortium and its activities.

The aftermath of the destruction: the sea level rises gradually all over the world. Two projects get underway at once, building elevated cities as the highest mountains would not be enough to house what remains of earth's populations. The other is the settling of the ocean floor and the transferring of as much of the world's culture and knowledge to the cities of the sea.

Before the burned-out core of the former rain forest is covered by smoldering foam, the Realist-Futurist-Neutralist consortium discovers a hexagonal artifact. The object is thought to be one structure, but in trying to explore its interior, it is found to be two tetrahedrons (pyramids) with their bases fused together. One is thought to be destroyed, but is hidden by the realists; all three groups jointly process the remaining object.

Inside the structure is found a device, or devices, which record all the devastation the anti-futurists have brought about. The device, when inactive, appears to be prismatic-metallic bands of a lighter-than-air alloy. This impossible device clearly did not originate in our universe, but has survived the inter-dimensional vortex unchanged, or so it appears. When the miniscule generator powers up the device, a kind of layered, interweaving warp-like process is created that is able to record all the devastation of the rain forest destruction, as well as the events that led up to the actual cataclysm. With enigmatic precision, the device completes its intended purpose and begins a reverse warp-movement or effect and seems to hover between the immediate vicinity of the ground, the air, the sea, and finally seemingly disappears into thin air. As it disappears, glimpses of the past, present and, apparent future of Earth transpire, all in rapid succession. Some think it an illusion. Others theorize the object either entered a time either before or after it's unusual recording process.

The device reappears throughout history and, depending on the sophistication of the civilizations it appears to, is either venerated, feared, unseen, or studied for its strange future scenes, if future scenes they are accepted as being, of a world with no rain forest, no cities on solid earth, and civilizations beneath the seas.

Some are able to take this information and prevent the future destruction in their alternate timelines, but in the timeline, in which the object originated, the cities either above or beneath the waters of Earth, remain, as do the groups mentioned previously. The hexagonal artifact was to have been discovered in a more peaceful and natural process, but the negative forces, as well as the anti-futurists, changed all that. In the end, the discovery of the artifact by the targeted groups and its lucrative technological secrets found its way into earth's history and would bring about the historical departure in 2844 as well as 3001.

Three members of the Consortium, Entrulio (En-troó-leo,) a Future Optimist, Treyinta (Treh-jín-tah,) a Perfect Neutralist and Zrutunt (Zroo-toónt,) a Perfect Realist, make their first and, perhaps, only appearance in the historical records. They are both terrestrial, yet non-terrestrial, as they are instrumental in deciphering the incomplete Etruscan writing and piecing together the purpose and the history of the hexagonal artifact.

A Different Kind of Sunrise: October 22, 3001 - part 3

"Immediately after the distress of those days 'the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.'" Matthew 24:29 (New International Version)

The renegade arm of the Future Realists were enraged when they learned that the moderate and right-wing of the Realists had conspired with the Perfect Optimists and had fully developed the major archives of the capsule that had been discovered in the deep sea trench. The departure of the Perfect Futurists in 10/22/2844 had been a carefully-guarded secret that had almost been erased from the databanks of the Deep Sea project. A year after the Futurists had departed, their rapid escape, and some said unethical one, in the borrowed interplanetary craft was finally discovered by decoding mundane information relays that no one imagined contained the specifics of their departure and the terminus of their journey.

The Renegade Realists felt cheated and slighted that their orthodox ideas had been mostly ignored by the evolving coalition between the remaining Realists and the Perfect Optimists. The Renegade Realists had tried to enlist the Future Neutralists as a last ditch attempt to wrest control away from the evolving forces. It was assumed that the group that spoke loudest or had the most impressive mental powers could easily sway the ineffectual Neutralists. The benign indifference of the Neutralists proved to be their strength, as in the end, it was the developing coalition's goals and modus operandi that appealed to the theoretical Neutralists who excelled in theory, as it was considered the cleanest of disciplines.

Unknown to the new coalition of the Perfect Futurists was the missing databanks of the centuries-old capsule that had waited in the sea beds till the technology of the future came looking for it. Everyone else accepted the fact that the missing data had been irretrievably lost by the drastic methods used to decipher the encrypted proto-Etruscan archives. It puzzled all concerned that the Ancient Rulers of the capsule had chosen an obscure people and language to preserve knowledge that certainly they realized would not be used for millennia. No doubt the vision of the proto-Etruscan civilization deceived them into thinking they would be masters of future civilizations.

The Renegade Realists had purposely guarded the supposedly destroyed data banks to use them as leverage if ever things got too out of kilter for them to achieve superiority in the power plays of the three esoteric groups. When they realized that they had been left out and left behind on a journey that they could not in good conscience participate in, they had no choice but to start developing the missing component in the capsule archives. It was sacrilege for the Futurists to have left their solar system in search of what the Renegade Realists firmly believed would come looking for them. They were further vexed that the Futurists had been, in fact, allowed by the Masters of Light to leave the solar system at all. They suspected that the Futurist's interest in time travel, only a theory at present, was a remote possibility in their very own future. It was assumed, based on scientific materials discovered in the aforementioned information relays, that the Futurists, if successful, would try to return to Earth and change the future by using the hoped-for solution from the galaxy's edge.

The Renegade Realists knew that the only way to achieve their goal and engineer their vision of Earth's future was to develop the Omicron device in the century and a half that remained before the end of the third millennium's first year. What resources had not been used by the Futurists were theirs to achieve the impossible, and some thought, unholy goal of building the Omicron device. The Realists, as they now referred to themselves, firmly believed that since the sacrilege of leaving Earth's solar system by their competitors, and former conspirators had taken place, their plan to balance things out was not a dark vision, but rather, the vision that, surely, the Rulers of Light had purposed that they carry out by including the information that they had hid from the other groups. Even some of their own, who were moderate, insisted that the power that the hidden archives contained should only be used for the betterment of humanity and nothing else.

Future historians would suppose, if some of the Futurists escaped destruction when they attempted to travel back in time to a date after their departure, that the state of events that they would encounter when they visited 3001 was a natural, albeit premature, development in their solar system.

The philosopher-scientists of the Realists firmly believed that what they were planning to do would never be permitted or tolerated by the Rulers of Light. Should it ever be attempted, it was widely believed that the execution of the Omicron device would never some to pass. Nevertheless, they reasoned that were it to be attempted, the Rulers of Light would have no choice but to bring an end to time itself, and reward the agents that had purportedly forced their hand. This was just conjecture and the conflicting schools of thought argued back and forth as the development of the Omicron device was urgently perfected as 10/22/3001 loomed in their future.

Three months before the historic date, the Omicron device was fully operational and was headed to its destination, the Earth's sun. The previous 12 months had been stressful but productive ones and the devotion of the philosopher-scientists had almost equaled their intellectual acumen.

Final scene:

The Future Realists become, or so they assumed, the agents to hasten the end of reality by amassing destructive forces which they believed would repair the fractured designs of perfection's systems, as they defined perfection.

As their vessels orbit the source of their world's power and light, the Sun, with bold devotion, the instruments that surround the Sun at strategic locations are poised to begin a chain reaction that no one in Earth's long history, or foreseeable history, would ever have imagined was possible but was now about to take place. No one in previous millennia, nor in any conceivable future would ever have thought that humankind was capable of executing such a radical plan to hasten the end of time and bring a final solution to the problems of Earth's past and eventual future.

Only minutes pass after all the vessels orbiting the Sun initiate the full power of the Omicron device: a device that had never been intended for what it was to achieve in a matter of hours. When the Omicron effect reached full force, Earth's Sun, worshiped by ancient humanity, or admired by their descendants, would become a supernova, eons before it's natural life cycle would trigger that event.

When the Future Realists imagine that their date with cosmic destiny is upon them, and only hours remain bedore the Omicron effect produces its devastating destruction of both Earth and it's Sun, great is their surprise as a different change begins to affect reality, but not the way that they had engineered the end of time. The Sun continues to shine minutes after the explosion should have occurred. The space surrounding the Sun, as well as all the inner planets reaching out to the asteroid belt, starts to vanish and is replaced by a form of light or energy that violates all known laws of physics. The bodies of the Future Realists, as well as those of the inhabitants of the planetary colonies, become transparent. Their thoughts and modes of communication no longer depend on sound, but on a partial telepathy that is as different from what it was imagined telepathy would be like, as their transparent bodies are from what their flesh-and-blood bodies used to be. While the inhabitants of Earth and the colonized worlds are experiencing a state of awareness and reality that no one had ever imagined was possible, the Future Realists remain in shock as they realize that their fool-proof device to end imperfect reality had been neutralized by nothing they had ever imagined could happen. Before they could actually destroy all of reality and life, transcendent forces or beings of Light, negated both the agents of Negative Realism and the old imperfect reality, itself. A new order of being and reality has superseded what was, and what was almost obliterated, by humanity's machines of destruction.

Eternal Vacations of the Future (part 1) - Vacaciones Eternas del Futuro

"I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had vanished. ..." Revelation 21:1

In the year 2844, on the 22nd of October, a large interplanetary craft headed for the Martian colonies takes off from Earth. On board are representatives of Earth’s major races, cultures & ethnic groups. There are also domestic animals belonging to the passengers. In addition, in the cargo area are located a variety of frozen embryos of the following animals: dolphins, porpoises, beluga whales, chimpanzees, bonobos, orangutans, gorillas & rhesus monkeys. Also on board are embryos of African gray parrots, cockatoos, & ravens. Additionally, there are embryos on board of a few reptiles and insects (ants, spiders, bees) as well as other useful or unique life forms. All these species have been carefully selected by the Perfect Futurists.

Unknown to all but the twelve Perfect Futurists is the fact that the aircraft has been enhanced with previously unknown modifications to give it not only interplanetary, but interstellar capability, as well.

The 12 Perfect Futurists have been selected because of their skills & their usefulness in an emergency situation. These are their abilities & specialties:

1. Scientist – Teacher - Male

2. Engineer – Architect - Female

3. Agriculturist – Physician - Female

4. Writer – Diplomat - Female

5. Lawyer – Security Expert - Male

6. Mathematician – Astronomer - Female

7. Comparative religions archivist – Theoretician - Male

8. Philosopher – Politician - Female

9. Artificial intelligence scientist – Information science expert - Male

10. Information systems expert – Cybernetics engineer - Female

11. Multi-media artist – Writer - Male

12. Psychologist – Writer - Male

The 12 will be the ones to either survive the aftermath of the journey to the home world or to have their offspring achieve it for them. As a safeguard, some of the 12 live for a hundred, or a thousand or a hundred thousand years, as well as those who are enabled to become Perfect Futurists.

All twelve (six females & six males) are all Perfect Futurist educators, theorists & enablers. All were preselected to be fertile, intelligent & able to multi-task & acquire, with time & dedication, two of the other skills of the twelve. All are Perfect Future Optimists.

Briefly, we outline one of the principles of Perfect Futurism as it is conceived by the 12 themselves & by their Originators, before them.

1. Cultivation & promotion of objects and concepts of beauty, perfection & altruism, whether these things & concepts impact, or are related, to human beings. This principle also applies to non-humans (animals or other forms of life & semi-intelligent life) & artificial beings or intelligences (cyborgs, cybernetic robots & machines), information-processing entities (trans or mega-software programs) & finally (in the event these theoretical beings some day come into existence) trans-humans or neo-humans. Additionally, this also applies to, should they ever exist, trans-robotic beings or trans-artificial intelligent entities.

2. Finally, the first major principle of Perfect Futurism also applies to beings or forms of intelligence, neo-life or synthetic life or trans-artificial beings or things or forces that may one day exist, but that are unforseen.

Some of the other passengers end their lives or try to wrest control away from the Futurists when they realize they are never returning to Earth. As imperfect as it had become in the last thousand yeaars, it was still their home and they preferred it to some elusive Home world that neither they nor their offspring might ever reach. There is a remote possibility that there was a common factor or agent that was responsible for arranging their supposed month-long stay on the Martian colonies. After years of struggle from some of the passengers who thought it was a weekend trip to Mars instead of a migration in search of a new Home World, more Perfect Futurists were welcomed & enabled to participate in the long trip among the stars.

As the Interstellar Craft approaches the edge of the galaxy, not having located the three-colored nebula with a blue, orange & reddish star cluster that they were instructed to find, they become aware of a rapidly approaching cosmic cloud of light. As the Cosmic Cloud approaches the Craft, all on board are transformed. Their skin becomes translucent & glowing. All begin to experience a heightened sense of wonder & awareness. Though it has not been explained to them verbally, they perceive with a previously unknown sense, that this is why they set out on their journey, not to find the specified nebula, but to be found by the Cloud of Light. They are aware that they are now synchronized with the will of the Cloud of Light, as are their ship's instruments and their power source itself.

The Perfect Futurists instinctively follow behind the Cosmic Cloud & begin the faster- than-light journey in search of the Earth they left behind a thousand years ago. The Cosmic Cloud enables the Perfect Futurists to enter an alternate realm of space, or a parallel universe, where there are various forms of light or energy-radiation & where faster than light travel is possible.

It becomes apparent after the Entity & craft reenter the universe, as we know it, that Earth & its sun, no longer exist. This makes it necessary to re-enter another parallel universe in order to travel back to a time when Earth & its sun still existed. When they find the remnant of humanity, before the cataclysmic supernova that destroys Earth, they rescue the remaining humans & travel to the elusive home world, which is an Earth-like planet that is twice the size of Earth. The new solar system has a young sun & the Neo-Earth has seven moons. Additionally, Neo-Earth is complemented by two sister planets for future expansion or exploration. The Cosmic Cloud Entity settles & engulfs the Seventh moon.

(In the prologue are outlined the years of selecting & perfecting of the twelve & the rivalry, transformation & development of Perfect Futurism from the seeds of Perfect Optimism & Future Realism, as well, as Future Neutralism.)

(In the epilogue are outlined the arrival & some, though not all, of the ramifications of the Perfect Future Home World.)
